EPS is a lightweight, rigid plastic foam material derived from polystyrene, a petroleum-based polymer. It is widely used in packaging, construction, and insulation due to its versatility, thermal insulation properties, and cost-effectiveness.
Raw Material: EPS starts as small spherical beads of polystyrene infused with a blowing agent (usually pentane or another hydrocarbon).
Expansion Process: When heated, the blowing agent vaporizes, causing the beads to expand up to 50 times their original size. These expanded beads are then fused together in molds to form lightweight, closed-cell foam blocks or shapes.
